This year Challenger Sports is launching a brand new, innovative fully integrated soccer camp that will accelerate the learning process of young players! Challenger is combining the most popular elements of their two existing industry-leading camp programs, British Soccer and TetraBrazil, and will integrate them with a collection of the most effective soccer practices used by youth teams around the world. We return to what has become one of my daughter's favorite summer camps to attend. The all-new Challenger International Soccer Camp offers instructional camp programs for each age/ability level!
The TinyTykes program will provide 3-5-year-olds with fundamental soccer activities, games, and stories, designed to enhance technical skills along with physical and social development. The Half Day Camp for 6-16-year-olds is the most popular program and will provide 3 hours of skill development, games, challenges and competition each day. Here in Houston, our camps take place in the morning and evening. You can purchase "full-day" but it's actually both the morning and evening sessions.
We have participated in all of the above, morning only, morning and evening and evening only. My daughter prefers the evening camps because the temperature has dropped a little bit - mom worries about the mosquitos! So you can bet her soccer bag has a bottle of insect repellant in it. If you register early for the Challenger Sports Soccer camp there are some amazing bonus features so be sure to mark your calendar to register next year early! Early registration 30 days before camp and qualify for a free International Game Jersey! Regular registration includes a free international ball, t-shirt, and poster, skills evaluation, and new downloadable coaching app and 20 skills videos! They can even start using the videos to improve their skills prior to camp beginning and long after it ends.
We decided this year that it was a good idea to pick up a soccer bag. I didn't want the cleats in my car and it made it so much easier for her to carry everything. After a little bit of shopping, we decided on this backpack style soccer bag.
It not only worked great for the week of camp but also for her as she headed over to Aggie Soccer Camp at Texas A&M.
You will also need a good water jug to keep your kids hydrated We like the Under Armour because it has double-wall foam insulated, keeping beverages cold for 12 hours. a leak-resistant locking flip-top lid with one-hand push-button operation and fold-down carrying handle with integrated fence hooks. You will also want to pick up a 6 pack of Gatorade and selection of snacks. They do take a break to eat, reapply sunscreen and then they get back to work.
You sign your child in an out and they take security seriously. You have to indicate if someone different is picking them up. I also like that they were very careful of the pop up showers and storms which happen here frequently. After the kids arrive they do warm ups, practice skills and then team playing. Frequent breaks are taken for water and they have a snack break too. The camp session is 5 days (M-F) and this year our times were 5:30 - 8:30 so be prepared for a hungry child needing a shower when they get home.
British Soccer Camps are the most popular soccer camp in the US. With an innovative curriculum that develops skills, speed and confidence in players ages 3-18, The British Soccer Camp provide boys and girls with the rare opportunity to receive high-level soccer coaching from a team of international expert’s right in the heart of their own community. The camp includes basic to advanced skill training, team building activities, and sportsmanship in a positive manner. By adding it to our summer schedule (oh there are spring camps available too) this mom scores a GOOOOAAALLL for the home team. Mark your calendar for next year in the spring and be ready to register your soccer playing kiddo too for this amazing camp! Want to be even more involved with British Soccer Camp? You can even be a host family and have a great time learning about your coach, where they are from and life there – as they experience life here in the states.
